The city of Wheaton is a comfortably unique community that is nestled snuggly in DuPage County, where it serves as the County Seat. In 1837 and 1838, the three founders, which include Jesse and Warren Wheaton, purchased the land that would become Wheaton. When the railroad came through town in the early years, the founders offered free land to people willing to build immediately. Around the same time Wheaton Depot was hung in town for the coming and going trains. This gave Wheaton its name.
