"Finding your web site has changed our lives. We were so inspired by this cute little neighborhood that we decided to buy our first home. I recommended your web site to my sister in Dallas, TX who is looking to buy. Hopefully, she will find it just as helpful." -Mickey, Chicago, IL

West Lafayette was platted as a town in 1836 though there were settlers in this area as early as 1822. During this time, flooding was a real issue and would cause people to flee from the area in order to find spots where this would not be a problem. When the Chauncey family moved to the area in 1860 things would change. Homes would be built and the area would become more organized. In 1874, Purdue University would open and offer a strong history and economic base that would last to this day. Finally, in 1888 the city's name would be changed to West Lafayette. Today, West Lafayette is an area that residents can be proud of living in. The city has won Community of the Year by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and numerous Tree City USA awards. West Lafayette has even won a Main Street Award.
West Lafayette is a college town that offers much more than your standard college fare.
