"Finding your web site has changed our lives. We were so inspired by this cute little neighborhood that we decided to buy our first home. I recommended your web site to my sister in Dallas, TX who is looking to buy. Hopefully, she will find it just as helpful." -Mickey, Chicago, IL

Powell has the distinct advantage of being located right between the Olentangy and Scioto Rivers. Powell is located on the southern tip of Delaware County. It is less than twenty miles from the state capital of Columbus. There are less than 8,000 residents in Powell, though the town has grown quite a bit since 2000 and it continues to grow somewhat steadily as new architecture and new home locations are developed.

The city of Powell has a history that dates back before Ohio's statehood. It was founded in 1801 as Middlebury, by settlers who came from Connecticut. Powell's name was later changed to its current name in 1857, after Thomas Powell, the man who set up Powell's first post office. The town remained small for some time, and was finally incorporated in 1947. A population boost occurred in the early 80s and over the next 20 years, Powell grew from less than 400 to 6000 residents.

Powell is filled with middle to upper class homes. The downtown area is a historic district and most of the employees of the city work in nearby Columbus where they can work for the government, in manufacturing, in retail, technology fields, and education. Residents of the city send their children to schools in the Olentangy Local School District. There is also a private prep school for age K-12 for those who wish to enjoy a parochial education.
