Fayetteville is located in Fayette County, Georgia where the city holds the county seat. This medium sized town is considered to be an extended suburb of Atlanta, despite being 35 miles from town. Younger residents of Fayetteville are served by the Fayette County School System. Fayetteville boasts three high schools, three middle schools, and five elementary schools.
The historical aspects of Fayetteville bring people into the area regularly. The Fayette County Courthouse was built back in 1825. Today, the Courthouse is the oldest surviving Courthouse in Georgia.
