Dacula, Georgia is located in Gwinnett County. The name Dacula was formed based on the cities of Decatur and Atlanta. This was due to the large success of both towns at the time of Dacula's forming. Like many towns in this area, Dacula was once a part of the railroad though the town station was closed in the 1950's.Today, Dacula is a town that is filled with educational opportunities for the younger residents and a strong sense of community for the rest of the town residents. Dacula is home to 10 public schools that are part of the Gwinnett County Public School System. The schools include six elementary schools, one of which (Puckett's Mill) will be opened during the 2008 school year, two middle schools, and one high school.
In addition to the numerous schools, Dacula is also home to one of the largest Baptist churches in the region. As the city is home to less than 10,000 residents, the small town appeal draws many people in to make Dacula their home. Both Gwinnett County and Dacula have received steady growth rates in the last decades and do not look like they will be seeing a decline anytime soon.
