Cornelius is one of the youngest incorporated towns in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. While Cornelius was established in 1893, the town was not incorporated until 1905. This makes it the second youngest out of six incorporated towns in Mecklenburg County. Cornelius is home to fewer than 25,000 residents. The town rests along the banks of the manmade Lake Norman.
