Auburn is known as the Home of the Classics. This reference is due to the classic automobiles that were manufactured in the area at one time. Like the nickname, the logo for the city also pays homage to this time with a logo for the Auburn Automobile Company, which was defunct as of 1930. Auburn is located in DeKalb County, Indiana. The city was founded in 1836. Today, Auburn serves as the county seat for DeKalb County and is home to close to 20,000 residents.

The area youth are served by the DeKalb County Central United School District. The public schools in the area include James R. Watson and McKenney-Harrison Elementary Schools, DeKalb Middle School and DeKalb High School. Parents interested in private Christian schools can send their children to Lakewood Park Christian School.

There are plenty of historic sites and events to visit in Auburn. Many of the top events are based around the old automotive industry. For example, the city is home to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival, which is a Labor Day tradition in Auburn. The city is home to two National historic landmarks, the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum and the National Automotive and Truck Museum of the United States. One of the other popular events in Auburn is the DeKalb County Free Fall Fair, which is a six day event.
