Incorporated in 1994, Sahuarita is a dream come true for residents who love progress but also value the rich Spanish history of the region. Nestled in the Santa Cruz valley, Sahuarita is easily accessible via Interstate 19 with Tucson to the north and Mexico to the south. The breathtaking desert landscape is the perfect backdrop for outdoor recreation at the area's most popular sites including Pena Blanca Lake, Sahuarita Lake Park, Arivaca Lake, Santa Rita Experimental Range, Madera Canyon, Kitt Peak Observatory, and the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation. The Santa Rita Mountains, just southeast of Sahuarita, are home to the world famous Madera Canyon inhabited by over 240 species of birds. Sahuarita also lays claim to hosting the Titan II Missile Museum, the only museum of this genre in the world.
